BEAR MAZE!

The Book
Excerpt
Trivia
Picture

In response to constant bear invasions, and with the heavy moral obligation to do no harm to the invaders, the city of Gibeah has decided to put every bear it can capture into the ancient maze at its center. They hoped in this way to both maintain their ethics and to never see the bears again.

Three years later, a discredited scientist and inventor by the name of Daedalus believes that these bears are in fact capable of solving and escaping the maze, and are at the center of a brooding calamity threatening to destroy the city.

At its heart, the book is a retelling of the myths of Daedalus—the story of Icarus, of the Labyrinth and the Minotaur, and Pasiphaë with her bull, all only slightly readapted so that they may contain a Leper Colony and an ominous threat of bears.

Reviews

"I really liked the book, but perhaps there were too many bears in the story. Could have used a dog or two."

"Rarely do you sense that any key performer was ever in the vicinity of a real animal. You'd be more likely to believe Patty Duke had an identical cousin."
Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times
For the movie Into the Grizzly Maze

"No opportunity to try it on a real bear - thankfully. But a friend of mine tried it on his brother-in-law during a camping trip. His brother-in-law was drinking and got obnoxious. He threatened to kick my friend's ass. My friend is an average size guy but his brother-in-law is huge and burly. He is as big as a bear and nearly as strong. This stuff worked on him big time. It put him out of commission so fast, from at least 15 - 20 feet away, that it scared the hell out of everyone. He was in real pain and could hardly breath. He was on the ground instantly and crying in agony from the pain. And that was from just one blast of this stuff."
